I want to sincerely thank Nicole & Ashley, the Administration Directors at The Waterview Rehabilitation Center in Purdys, NY. You both shine LIKE DIAMONDS. Thank you ever so much for all your help & assistance with my dear Mother. Your staff is impeccable & Facility is "beyond pristine". I have recommended to many Health Professionals & friends.
I had to get my 91yr old Mother transferred out of THE OTHER Rehab, a few miles down the road. That facility looks like EYE CANDY, yet was filthy, neglectful of my Mother & other patients whom I saw. Mom had an old box spring/dilapidated bed, with a non working remote. A telephone which did not ring & a television remote which had an antiquated working system. Confusing even for me let alone a 91yr old woman. She also got injured because the facility did NOT have proper wheelchair legs & she was wheeled around & TOLD by a staff Member of the staff to "hold up your legs up", as Mom was crying repeatedly, "I can't do it". I know I could not either. Needless to say Mom's legs were skinned & she received deep abrasions. After I saw her legs & knew she said she was in pain, I asked a nurse about giving her Tylenol for her pain. I was assured by a nurse that she would receive medication promptly. I left & I called Mom later & asked about her pain. She received nothing & this was 4hrs later. l called the front desk & he gave me the head Nurses telephone number. I immediately called & she told the Nurse on duty to dispense pain medication now. So you wonder why I abhor that horrid COMPETITORS Facility? Between infestation of ants & flies crawling all over her bed, in her nightstand, floors, I had enough. Not enough PT, nor Occupational therapy. More aids than Nurses. For such a large facility, completely understaffed!
The Waterview Rehabilitation Center, in Purdys, NY, held a bed for Mother for at least a week. I finally had to go into the THE FORMER, rotten facility with my husband & demanded my Mother be released. I told the Administration Director that I have been trying ALL week to get Mom released
& transferred into The Waterview. I even emailed him over the weekend & called the Social Worker... I followed proper protocol (chain of command).
What an ordeal to get her released.
Finally, after being transferred to The Waterview Rehabilitation Center in Purdys, NY, my Mother finally received proper care. Proper nutrition, PT, Occupational therapy & help to go to the bathroom. The other nearby facility said, "go in your diaper". My Mom is NOW mostly incontinent thanks to that former facility that everyone thinks looks like a 5 🌟 hotel, yet, with 1 🌟 MOTEL service.
I highly recommend The Waterview Rehabilitation Center in Purdys, NY. They let a family member know when Medicare's 20 day stay is over & patients will be monetarily be responsible. The other place did NOT & my Mother was responsible for $5,400 co-pay. Be forewarned people.
The Waterview has plenty of activities/amenities & options for your loved ones. The other place let my Mom languish & was neglected. If a patient is a heart patient & on a water pill, of course they will need to use the bathroom frequently. I was told by other people, if this facility does not see a family member showing up, you can bet your loved one will NOT get the proper care. Boy were they right.
I loved The Waterview Rehabilitation Center for my Mother's care. A smaller facility with less beds makes for more, "hands on deck", for accessible help. I was able to call anytime & they took care of my request; PRONTO.
The other facility touts over 300 beds. Hence, NO HANDS ON DECK.
Now with our experience, between these 2 facilities; one which BRAGS about private rooms/bathrooms, views, BBQs (horrible, limited care; infested with pests) & our favorite: The Waterview, in Purdys, NY = Honest, compassionate care, impeccably clean & respectful of your loved ones care & well being. I highly recommend The Waterview Rehabilitation Center in Purdys, NY.
