Residents, staff, and family members from Waterview Hills recently came together to welcome Virgil Dantes, Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator for Friends of Karen, who shared the organization’s inspiring mission and the meaningful impact of its Back-to-School Initiative.
Through an engaging and heartfelt presentation, attendees learned how Friends of Karen provides vital support to children facing life-threatening illnesses and the families who care for them. Virgil reminded us that every backpack, notebook, and school supply donated represents far more than a simple gift. Each item offers hope, encouragement, confidence, and reassurance to a child preparing for a new school year while navigating extraordinary challenges.
The event highlighted the power of community and the difference that acts of kindness can make in the lives of others. Thanks to the generosity of our residents, staff, family members, and supporters, children and families served by Friends of Karen will begin the school year knowing that an entire community stands behind them.
“We are grateful to everyone who participated in our Back-to-School Supply Drive and helped make this initiative a success,” said organizers from Waterview Hills. “Together, we are turning compassion into action and helping children start the school year with dignity, confidence, and hope.”
